Modern Persian calligraphy was also a key focus of the course. In addition to learning the structure of the Persian language, participants were introduced to the artistic and aesthetic aspects of Persian writing.

The course content combined instruction in the Persian alphabet, reading and pronunciation of letters, writing exercises, modern Persian calligraphy, and an introduction to aspects of Iranian culture and art.

As part of the sessions, participants were introduced to topics related to Iran’s cultural, historical, religious, and artistic diversity, with particular attention given to the connection between language, art, and Iranian culture.

One of the topics covered was an introduction to several churches in Iran. In this context, participants were introduced to the Saint Mary Church in Tehran through a video, photographs, and materials from books.

Photographs of the Saint Mary Metro Station in Tehran were also shown during the class, allowing participants, alongside their calligraphy training, to become familiar with examples of Iranian cultural and artistic elements in the urban environment.

In response to the participants’ positive reception of the course, the new edition will go beyond learning individual letters. Participants will learn Persian words, how to read and write them, as well as how to create and combine visual forms using words in modern Persian calligraphy.
