The use of multimedia instructional materials is one of the best methods in teaching a language more deeply. The multimedia instruction could be designed, produced and presented online (web-based) or offline (on CD).

Multimedia for language learning includes a wide range of materials such as photos, videos, audio recordings and graphically annotated texts. These instructional materials have lots of advantages because the use of pictures and videos instead of textbooks accompanied with audio recordings, sounds and music allow information to be processed more deeply in the memory of learners. Multimedia instruction helps students learn a language more effectively, more quickly and more deeply. This multimedia-based instruction, which is designed by Saadi Foundation, is interactive. The main goal of it is not only presenting learning materials but also providing users with the possibility to practice subjects interactively and receive the feedback at the same time.

The First Step interactive multimedia software is designed by experts of Teaching Persian to the Speakers of Other Languages (AZFA) to teach the language to novice Persian learners more deeply.
