Unveiling of the “Kazakh–Persian Dictionary” in Kazakhstan

According to the Public Relations Office of Saadi Foundation, the ceremony featured the official launch of the Kazakh–Persian Dictionary, authored by Haj Mohammad Shadkam. The publication is the result of many years of scholarly research and professional activity in linguistics, translation studies, and comparative literary research, and is regarded as one of the most comprehensive bilingual dictionaries between the Kazakh and Persian languages.

Speakers at the event highlighted the dictionary’s academic features and structure, describing it as a valuable resource for professors, researchers, students, translators, and those interested in Iranian and Kazakh studies. They also emphasized its role in expanding scientific, educational, and cultural cooperation and in facilitating literary exchanges between Iran and Kazakhstan.

Another part of the ceremony was dedicated to honoring Haj Mohammad Shadkam for his scholarly and cultural contributions to introducing Kazakh literature and cultural heritage to the Persian-speaking community. The speakers referred to his long-standing efforts, including translations of works by prominent Kazakh thinkers such as Abai Qunanbaiuly, Shakarim Qudayberdiuly, and the wisdom literature of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. They described these translations as significant in deepening mutual understanding between the two nations and introducing Kazakhstan’s spiritual heritage to Iranian audiences.

On the sidelines of the event, Nurlan Seidin, President of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan, met with Mohammad Masoud Sadeghi, the Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran and representative of the Saadi Foundation in Almaty.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed ways to expand scientific, academic, and cultural cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan, referring to the long-standing historical ties and shared cultural and civilizational heritage of the two countries.

Key areas of discussion included strengthening cooperation among academies of sciences, universities, research centers, and cultural institutions; supporting the translation of scientific and literary works; organizing joint conferences; exchanging professors and researchers; implementing collaborative research projects; and enhancing activities related to Iranian and Kazakh studies.
