Completion of Persian Language Capacity-Building Course for Turkmenistan’s Professors and Students
According to the Public Relations Office of the Saadi Foundation, the course brought together 60 professors and students of Persian language from several Turkmen universities, including Magtymguly State University, Döwletmämmet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, the International University of Oil and Gas, and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The training sessions were conducted by Shahnaz Ahmadi-Ghader and Tahmineh Sheikhi, instructors from the Saadi Foundation.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Ali-Akbar Bazobandi, Deputy Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, expressed his appreciation to the cultural attaché, the Saadi Foundation’s representative in Ashgabat, as well as the participating professors and students. He emphasized Iran’s full readiness to expand academic and scientific cooperation in Persian language studies and other academic fields between the two countries, noting that such collaborations would contribute to enhancing the knowledge and skills of both nations’ academic communities.
Abdolreza Abbasi, Cultural Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Saadi Foundation’s representative in Turkmenistan, also expressed hope for the continuation of such programs. He noted that initial evaluations of participants reflected the dedication of Iranian instructors in fostering effective engagement through modern teaching methods, as well as the successful learning outcomes achieved by Turkmen professors and students at various levels.
Referring to the shared historical and cultural ties between Iran and Turkmenistan, he added that he hopes the participants will one day contribute to translating literary and cultural works of both countries into Persian and Turkmen, making them accessible to a wider audience.
Abbasi further announced Iran’s readiness to facilitate the participation of Turkmen professors, teachers, and students in advanced Persian language and literature programs, as well as to provide scholarships and opportunities for joint academic and research initiatives.
In another part of the ceremony, Orazgeldi Ovezov, President of Magtymguly State University, highlighted the approval of a “20-year capacity-building program across various fields with an emphasis on international experience” by the Government of Turkmenistan. He called on the Embassy of Iran and its cultural office to support the organization of similar training courses in diverse academic fields with the involvement of Iranian professors.
At the conclusion of the event, bilingual certificates in Persian and Turkmen were awarded to the participating students, and commemorative gifts were presented to the Iranian instructors of the Saadi Foundation.
