Saadi Foundation’s mission is Introduction of Persian Language
The press conference of Saadi Foundation was held this morning in the presence of Gholamali Hadad Adel, head of the foundation, and his deputy Hojatollah Ayoubi.
According to the Public Relations of Saadi Foundation, In his speech, Hadad Adel asserted that Persian language is in need of stronger structures outside of Iran that is the founding mission of the foundation.
Elaborating on the foundation’s programs and future missions, Hadad Adel underlined the role of Saadi in expansion of Persian literature and language, and said, “To understand Saadi’s greatness, it suffices to say that since writing the book of Golestan 656 years ago by him, everyone who intends to learn Persian language properly can start with the book; that is why Saadi is a well-known figure in and outside of Iran;… and one of the reasons the foundation is named after him.”
The Saadi Foundation was established last year after years of efforts by a number of Persian language experts and activists in and outside of Iran. Finally, the formation of the foundation was ratified by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution and the Government Cabinet.
Compilation of books for teaching Persian language to speakers of other languages is one of the chief missions of the foundation, asserted Adel. “Persian should serve as a key to reaching a magnificent human treasure and a means for communicating with the modern Iran. Thus, books in various levels should be devised to provide the required linguistic expertise for the learners.”
“Subsequent to Article 15 of the Constitution, Persian language is the official language of the country and should be used in all political and educational levels in Iran,” he went on to add. “Preservation, expansion and bolstering the language are among the key and strategic policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Saadi Foundation is founded in pursuit of this duty of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
He further added that previously the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization was the sole custodian of expansion of the Persian language outside of Iran, but with the establishment of the foundation, more force is pumped into the trend.
Adel also added that learning from other countries in expansion of their languages in the world is one of the concerns of the foundation which has so far been pursued in contacts with such foundations in France, Japan and the UK.
