the commemoration ceremony was cosponsored by the Association of Balkh Writers and the Islamic Republic of Iran Culture House and held in Ferdowsi Library of the Iranian cultural center in Mazar Sharif on May 15.
Saleh Mohammad Khaliq, the head of Balkh Province Culture Office said in the ceremony that Ferdowsi has contributed to Farsi-speaking nations more than anyone else.
“The people in greater Khorasan and the Aryans in general are thus all indebted to him, who by composing the Shahnameh (Letter of the Kings) immortal masterpiece created the greatest everlasting literary work of the world,” added Mohammad Khaliq.
He said that the Afghans consider Shahnameh as their national identity card; Ferdowsi has created the world’s most epical work in which exalted ethical values are promoted, which are unmatched in any other epical work of the world literture.
Hadi Movafeq-Sedeghi, the Iranian cultural attaché in Mazar Sharif, too, said in the ceremony that Ferdowsi dedicated his entire life to composing Shahnameh and that he was a deep thinker with a sharp mind.
Then some poets and writers from Balkh including Ameneh Haqparast, Shokufeh Khaliq, Bavar Bamik, Atiqollah Ansari and Fazileh Ash’ari recited some poems from Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh.
The cultural representative office of Iran at the end appreciated the Afghan poets and writers who had published their works in the 2017, the young poet and author who has written the Song of Rain, and the managers of Balkh Province best publishers, by awarding them plates of honor.
